Traditional Arabic clothes

These three jelabyiat (dresses) are from the United Arab Emiratis. It was made to measure. I like the embroidery on it. One has cords, another has cut work machine embroidery and another one just machine embroidery on the design.

John Beasley

This week I went to Peckham Library to listen to a talk by John Beasley about his experience as editor of 100 editions of Peckham Society News. He was born in Yorkshire in Hornsea. At the age of 15 years old he came to study in London and settled in Peckham. He is now 72 years old. During his study he started to do an essay about Peckham, just because he wanted to. He worked as a social worker in Tower Hamlets.

Seeing white again

Following an earlier post, during the last week I saw lots more white things when I have been walking and travelling.

Seeing white

I decided to start to work with my collection of white wools and cottons to do some projects with it. I’m going to give myself three months to see if I can use 90% of these threads. I keep seeing white items around and this reminds me of the white project I am starting.
