my thoughts on all sorts of creative things

About

My name is Najlaa and I’m very passionate about all sorts of creative needlework and crafts. I work as a crafts tutor in London. This blog is for me to comment on what I’m working on, where I’m visiting and what inspirational crafts I’m seeing. I don’t get to stitch every day so I will be blogging whenever I can.

It was my mother who first taught me hand embroidery and knitting. She had a large wooden box, which contained a lot of transfers. I used to look through it and wish I had time to stitch. By the time I started primary school I already knew many traditional stitches. My work was always entered in school exhibitions. During the holidays I continued to practise and I made single and double bedspreads and sheets, pillows, and table cloths.

I qualified as an adult education tutor then studied for a City & Guilds qualification to learn more about textiles. I have taught Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Arabic, embroidery, knitting, crochet and silk painting to many different groups and in many different places around London.
